Founded by the ICM Sisters on 14 January 1926 with just three visually impaired students, the Little Flower Convent Higher Secondary School for the Blind in Nungambakkam, Chennai is one of India's oldest schools for blind children. Upgraded to a high school in 1973 and a higher secondary school in 1989, it functions under the Differently Abled Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu and combines Braille education, smart labs, sound and computer labs, music and vocational training — producing achievers such as IAS officer Beno Zephine while maintaining a record of near-perfect board exam results.
