Founded in 1949 by legendary dancer Mrinalini Sarabhai and now led by Mallika Sarabhai, Darpana Academy of Performing Arts on Ahmedabad's Sabarmati riverfront trains students in bharatanatyam, kuchipudi, folk dance, theatre, music and puppetry — and uses the arts as a force for social change, taking productions on caste, gender, mental health and the environment to audiences across India and the world.
