Founded in 1930 by Dr. T.S. Avinashilingam with an investment of Rs. 5.75 and one harijan boy on its rolls, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya at Periyanaickenpalayam is a branch centre of the Ramakrishna Mission. Mahatma Gandhi laid its foundation stone in 1934; today its campus of schools, teacher-training and arts colleges, polytechnic, agriculture institute and rural development centre educates students from pre-school to doctoral level in the spirit of Swami Vivekananda's man-making education.
