ACCESS Development Services was set up in March 2006, with early support from the UK's DFID, as a national-level livelihoods support organisation for India's poor. Rather than delivering programs directly to individuals, ACCESS positions itself as an intermediary and incubator: it designs and tests livelihood models, then works with government departments, private companies, donors and other civil-society organisations to scale what works. It is best known for building market linkages for rural producers and small enterprises, and for convening India's largest annual gathering on inclusive finance and livelihoods, the Global Sammelan (formerly the Financial Inclusion conclave). ACCESS's own registered domain, accessdev.org, was found to be compromised with injected foreign-language casino/gambling spam during this research, so no website is listed here pending a clean alternate domain.
