Shree Vivekanand Research and Training Institute, known as VRTI, was established at Mandvi in Kachchh in 1975 and registered in 1980 under the Bombay Public Charitable Trust Act. Guided by the rural development vision of Shree Kantisen Shroff, it works across some 300 villages of Kachchh district in Gujarat on water resource management in a drought-prone region, and on sustainability in agriculture, animal husbandry and rural arts and crafts.
