SES began informally in 1985 around a local safe-drinking-water problem and has since grown into a broader development organisation. It now works across agriculture, food security, livelihoods, health, education, disaster mitigation, water and sanitation, and environmental issues in its home district. Its programmes are built around community and gender participation.
