Manav Sansadhan Evam Mahila Vikas Sansthan (MSEMVS)
Varanasi NGO running community-led programmes against bonded labour, trafficking and child labour since 1990
MSEMVS is a Varanasi-based NGO established in 1990 that has worked for decades to eradicate forced and bonded labour, child labour and human trafficking in eastern Uttar Pradesh, including the carpet-belt districts of Mirzapur and Bhadohi. It runs village-based transitional schools for children rescued from bonded and child labour, alongside health, livelihood and women's empowerment programmes. Its community-empowerment model, in which affected groups organise to demand their own rights, has been studied by researchers at Harvard's FXB Center and cited for contributing to sharp declines in debt bondage in the districts where it works.
