Initiatives

• Cloth for Work — Villages choose and carry out their own development work — repairing a road, digging a well, cleaning a water body — and receive urban surplus material as a reward for the effort rather than as charity.
• Not Just A Piece of Cloth — Menstrual health work in rural India, built on what Goonj calls the 4A approach — access, awareness and the agency of menstruators themselves.
• School to School — Channels school material from urban children to rural schools, with the stated aim of building a relationship between children on opposite sides of a resource divide.
• Rahat — Goonj's disaster relief and rehabilitation arm, run through a standing network of urban and rural stakeholders so response does not start from scratch each time.
• Green by Goonj — Up-cycles old fabric and other discarded material — audio tape, oversized jeans, unused ties — into products made by women in Goonj's network.
