Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust was founded in 2001 by Dr S.P. Singh Oberoi with a mandate of 'socio-economic transformation' for weaker and socially underprivileged groups across Punjab. The trust now operates a network of offices spanning cities including Amritsar, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Faridkot and Sangrur, running pension assistance for poor families and widows, support services for people with disabilities, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities including clinical laboratories and diagnostic centres. It also assists with the repatriation of deceased Indian nationals from abroad. The trust reports having helped rescue over 100 young men from death sentences abroad through legal and diplomatic intervention, and its founder has received the Best Citizen Award on three occasions.
