A branch centre of the Ramakrishna Mission started in 1932 as the Shishumangal maternity and child-welfare clinic, Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan on Sarat Bose Road has grown into a 684-bed multi-discipline general hospital. Guided by Sri Ramakrishna's ideal that one who serves man serves God, it provides affordable healthcare to Kolkata's economically weaker and underprivileged patients across departments from obstetrics and paediatrics to neurosurgery and cardiology, alongside community health services and a mobile medical van.
