Formed on 30 October 1998 by galleries, patrons and residents of South Mumbai's crescent-shaped art district, the Kala Ghoda Association maintains and preserves the precinct's heritage — restoring landmarks such as the David Sassoon Library, Muljee Jetha Fountain and Wadia Clock Tower — and organises the annual Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, Asia's largest free multidisciplinary street arts festival, held every February since 1999.
