Jeevan Aanand Sanstha, a public charitable organisation set up in Mumbai in 2013, rescues roadside destitute people — many wounded or mentally ill — and brings them into its Carver day-and-night shelters at Khar and Santacruz for cleaning, food and medical attention. Staff then trace family members where possible; those with nowhere to return to move to its longer-term homes, Samarth Aashram in Virar and the hundred-plus resident Sanvita Aashram in Kudal, Sindhudurg.
