Indian Association for the Blind was founded in 1985 by S.M.A. Jinnah, himself visually impaired, starting with four students in a rented room. It now runs over 24 projects in education, vocational training and employment placement from Madurai, and reports having educated and rehabilitated more than 30,000 visually challenged people, with a focus on rural Tamil Nadu.
