Kolkata society since 1994 providing technical and managerial support to development NGOs, focused on self-help groups and disaster management.
Calcutta Society for Professional Action in Development, known as SPADE, is a non-profit society registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961 (Regn. No. S/76925, dated 26/05/1994), founded by a group of development professionals to provide techno-managerial support to other organisations in the development sector. Since 2000 it has consolidated around two core themes — self-help-group management and disaster management, including community-based health promotion — offering field facilitation, documentation, communication, capacity-building, community mobilisation and advocacy support to partner organisations across West Bengal.
