Sundeep Kapila is the co-founder of Swasth Foundation (2008)[1], an Indian non-profit working on healthcare from Mumbai.

Sundeep Kapila is an Indian social entrepreneur and a co-founder and chief executive of the Swasth Foundation, a Mumbai-based non-profit organisation that provides primary healthcare and wellbeing services to low-income communities. He left a career in management consulting to set up the organisation with Garima Gupta.

Early life and education

Kapila graduated with a BTech in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 2001. He has since completed a Master of Science in Yoga, a law degree and a Diploma of Associateship in Insurance, and is a certified professional coach and a Somatic Experiencing practitioner. He has been a Lown Scholar at the Harvard School of Public Health and is pursuing a doctorate in bio-electronics at IIT Bombay.

Career

Kapila worked with McKinsey & Company for seven years, specialising in the healthcare and development sectors, before turning to social enterprise.

He co-founded the Swasth Foundation with Garima Gupta and serves as its chief executive and a trustee. Swasth aims to build a sustainable and accountable health ecosystem for people on low incomes in India, combining conventional primary care with nutrition, coaching and yoga therapy. The organisation operates through several entities, among them the Swasth India Medical Center and The Swasth Institute, which runs integrated life coach training. Swasth reports more than 1.5 million healthcare interactions and some 85,000 person-hours of health education.[2][3]

Swasth Foundation runs a network of not-for-profit comprehensive healthcare clinics across Mumbai, offering family medicine and dental care to low-income households at little to no cost.
