Anjali Tendulkar

Anjali Tendulkar is a paediatrician and the co-founder and director of the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation, which she runs alongside SRT Sports Management. She married the cricketer Sachin Tendulkar in 1995 and, after his playing career ended, the two set up the foundation to work with children from disadvantaged households.

The foundation operates as a grant-maker and convener rather than a direct service provider, funding and partnering with organisations across three areas. Its health work draws directly on her clinical experience of the difficulties children face in getting timely care, both in rural districts and among urban migrant communities, and supports partners including Basic HealthCare Services on pregnancy, childbirth and childhood illness, the Inga Health Foundation on surgery for cleft lip and palate and craniofacial conditions, the Ekam Foundation, Parivaar and Makunda Hospital, which serves remote areas of Assam, Mizoram and Tripura.

In sport it supports organisations using games as a route to life skills rather than to professional careers, among them the Hi-5 Youth Foundation's basketball programme in tribal areas, Mann Deshi Champions, Shreeja, Yuwa's football and education work with girls, and the SRT10 Global Academy, which gives full cricket scholarships to children from Navi Mumbai's municipal schools. In education it funds scholarships and supplementary teaching through partners including Vidyarthi Vikas Yojna and the Spreading Happiness InDiya Foundation, which builds solar-powered digital laboratories in schools.[2][3][4]
