Muthulakshmi Reddy is the founder of Cancer Institute (WIA) (1954)[1] and Avvai Home (1931)[2], Indian non-profits working on palliative & cancer care, healthcare, orphans & child care, education and women & children from Chennai.

Cancer Institute (WIA)

Also known as Adyar Cancer Institute, Cancer Institute (WIA) is a not-for-profit cancer hospital founded by Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy that treats around 15,000 new patients a year, runs a free hospice, and conducts cancer-prevention screening outreach across several Tamil Nadu districts.

Avvai Home

Avvai Home was established in 1931 by Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy to shelter, protect and educate orphan girls and deserted women irrespective of caste or creed. Located in Adyar, Chennai, it runs a residential home, a pre-primary and primary school started in 1950, and the T V R Higher Secondary School founded in 1963-64. Girls in the home are educated from primary school through classes X and XII.
