Born of the golden age of Parsi charity, the B.D. Petit Parsee General Hospital at Cumballa Hill grew from Seth Bomanji Dinshaw Petit's 1906 trust deed gifting his Cumballa Hill estate for a community hospital, which opened its doors in 1912. For over a century the charitable institution has treated free and highly subsidised patients with medicines and diagnostics at no cost, and in recent years the heritage hospital has moved to open its beds to patients of all communities.
