SHED India was established in Thanjavur district in 1999 with the aim of building a healthier society through education, awareness and folk arts. Over more than two decades it has broadened into an integrated development organisation working on child development, women's empowerment, health, environment, human rights and disaster management. It operates directly across five districts of Tamil Nadu.
