Point of View was founded in Mumbai in 1996 to build and amplify women's voices in public life, working at the intersection of gender, sexuality, media and disability. Its programme 'Sexuality and Disability', running since 2015, educates women with disabilities about their bodies, sexuality and rights — an area largely ignored by both the disability sector and the women's rights sector. A related initiative, Skin Stories, publishes first-person narratives by people with disabilities to counter stereotypes about disability and desire. Point of View's tools are journalism, digital resources, art and campaigns rather than direct service delivery, and it also trains civil-society groups and engages policymakers on gender and disability rights. The organisation has been led by disability rights advocate Nidhi Goyal.
