MAVA pioneered work in India that engages boys and men to prevent gender-based violence against women, arguing that empowering women alone leaves men outside the process of change. From Mumbai it runs gender sensitisation and mentoring programmes that have built a cadre of youth mentors, conducts workshops in colleges and workplaces, and brings out publications including Purushspandana.
