Jayam Special School was founded in Chennai by G. Sayadevi after the death of her brother Jayaraj, a child with intellectual disabilities whose mistreatment at another school convinced her that change was needed. It provides a safe, nurturing education for children with autism, intellectual disabilities and learning difficulties, assessing each child's motor and functional abilities on admission and coaching capable students through the SSLC board exams.
