The Institute of Psychological and Educational Research was set up in Kolkata in 1971 by Dr Arun Ghosh, an educationist and national child-welfare awardee, to bring psychology and education together for child development. More than fifty years on, IPER works with marginalised children and women — with particular focus on the girl child — through education, child protection including an open shelter under Mission Vatsalya, women's protection, healthcare and nutrition, and counselling.
