Hunnarshala Foundation grew out of the owner-driven reconstruction effort that followed the 2001 Kutch earthquake and was formally registered in 2003. The organisation works with a network of local artisans to combine traditional earth- and craft-based building techniques with modern engineering, producing housing and infrastructure that is eco-friendly, resilient and rooted in local vernacular. Its work spans community empowerment, artisan training and post-disaster reconstruction across Gujarat and beyond.
