Don Bosco Ashalayam is a Salesian child-welfare organisation started in 1985 with work among children at Howrah Railway Station and a night shelter at Pilkhana, Howrah. It runs residential hostels, street and slum schools, health services, vocational training and job placement for children without parental care across Howrah, Liluah, Kolkata and Kalyani. Outreach teams work with children found on the streets and at railway stations, and it operates a Childline assistance booth at Howrah station.
