V. Janaki

V. Janaki is the founder of People with Hearing Impaired Network (PHIN) (2007)[1], an Indian non-profit working on disability and education from Hyderabad.

People with Hearing Impaired Network is a Hyderabad-based nonprofit founded in 2007, running a residential school that teaches through Indian Sign Language along with hostel facilities for Deaf girls and orphaned children. It also provides ISL training, skill development, and community-based rehabilitation programmes for the Deaf community in Telangana.

People with Hearing Impaired Network (PHIN) reports the following, on its own site:

  • Trained over 6,500 hearing-impaired individuals on disability rights (2023-2024)
  • 1,150 hearing aids distributed with government and partner support
  • Trained 3,000 hearing-impaired individuals in vocational fields
  • Mainstreamed more than 4,000 children into regular schools
