Balavidyalaya

Balavidyalaya, established in 1969 in Adyar, Chennai, is a free, non-residential oral early intervention centre for children with hearing loss below age three. Using its own DHVANI methodology, children develop speech and language and join mainstream schools at age six; the trust also runs an RCI-recognised teacher training institute.

Balavidyalaya reports the following, on its own site:

  • This year we had 20 admissions till date (14 children from Chennai, and one each from Madurai, Villupuram, Krishnagiri, Pune, Sivagangai and Kanchipuram).
  • This year in April 2025, 10 children joined the mainstream. They include 9 who joined the 1st and 1 child UKG.
