Leila Bilimoria is the founding trustee of PALCARE (The Jimmy S Bilimoria Foundation) (2015)[1], an Indian non-profit working on palliative & cancer care, healthcare and elderly from Mumbai.

Leila Bilimoria is a trustee of The Jimmy S Bilimoria Foundation, the Mumbai charitable trust that runs PALCARE, a home-based palliative care service for patients with life-limiting illness. She is a member of the family in whose memory the foundation was established.

By profession she is an independent communications and public relations consultant, and a founding partner of the boutique communications agency LBS Consulting.

Career

Bilimoria has more than twenty years of experience in public relations and brand marketing. She has worked with Barclays Bank and with the agency LinOpinion, later GolinOpinion, and subsequently founded LBS Consulting.

The Jimmy S Bilimoria Foundation was set up in March 2015 in memory of Jimmy Soli Bilimoria, who died of cancer in May 2013. During his illness the family found that home-based palliative care was largely unavailable in Mumbai. The foundation launched its PALCARE service in Mumbai on 1 December 2015, providing multidisciplinary home visits by doctors, nurses, counsellors and social workers for patients with cancer and other life-limiting conditions. Pheroza Bilimoria is the founder trustee; Leila Bilimoria serves on the board of trustees alongside her.[2][3][4]

PALCARE was set up in 2015 by The Jimmy S Bilimoria Foundation, created in memory of Jimmy Soli Bilimoria after his battle with cancer exposed how few Mumbai patients could get palliative care at home. Its multidisciplinary teams of doctors, nurses and counsellors make home visits across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, caring for people with cancer, kidney failure, strokes and other life-limiting illnesses entirely free of cost, and training caregivers in the process.
