Dr. Abraham George is the founder and chief executive officer of Shanti Bhavan Educational Trust[1], an Indian non-profit working on education and orphans & child care from Bengaluru.
Shanti Bhavan Educational Trust
Shanti Bhavan is a network of two residential schools for children born into India's lowest socioeconomic class, offering free high-quality education from pre-kindergarten through Class 12 and then supporting students through college and into their first job. Its students' lives were chronicled by Academy Award-winning director Vanessa Roth in the Netflix documentary Daughters of Destiny.
Shanti Bhavan Educational Trust reports the following, on its own site:
- 97% of students graduate from high school
- 98% of students complete college/university degrees
- 97% of graduates earn more in 5 years than their parents did in a lifetime
- 90% of graduates volunteer in their communities
