Pain Relief and Palliative Care Society, Hyderabad

Founded in 2007 by doctors and volunteers at the MNJ Institute of Oncology & Regional Cancer Centre, the Pain Relief and Palliative Care Society has grown into one of the region's largest palliative care providers. It runs the Kumudini Devi Hospice in Kukatpally, a 10-van home care service across Hyderabad, paediatric palliative teams inside MNJ and Niloufer government hospitals, and 10-bed centres in Kurnool and Puttaparthi — with every service entirely free of cost.

Pain Relief and Palliative Care Society, Hyderabad reports the following, on its own site:

  • Between 900-1,000 patients admitted annually to Kumudini Devi Hospice with free care, food and medicines
  • 30-bed in-patient facility and a 10-van home care service covering Hyderabad and environs
  • 81 trained staff including doctors, nurses, social workers and physiotherapists
