From Idukki, VOSARD has run self-help initiatives for marginalised communities in Kerala and Tamil Nadu since 1998. Community-based rehabilitation has been central since 2002, reaching around 5,800 people with disabilities, while its women's self-help groups build leadership — members are encouraged to contest panchayat elections — and camps such as free cancer screening serve senior citizens.
