SURAAH is an alternative school in the hills near Vikasnagar, Dehradun, registered as a non-profit charitable trust in 2023 to educate children from Uttarakhand's tribal hill communities. It has taken over an existing school in Katapatthar, currently serving around 75 students from Nursery to Grade 8, most from the Jaunsar Bawar Scheduled Tribe community. Its model emphasises critical thinking, compassion and creation over rote compliance and competition.
