Sparsha Charitable Trust was founded by social worker Sarika Desai in 2004 to launch the Sanskar project, focused on integrated child development and education in Mumbai. It began by adopting five locations in Wadala's construction sites and slum pockets, and now works across 17 centres and with 22 BMC schools to keep migrant and daily-wage workers' children in the formal education system. The trust works directly with parents as well as children to change attitudes toward school enrolment and retention.
