The Blind Boys' Academy at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur, began in early 1957 as a small hostel named 'Students' Home for the Blind' with seven visually impaired students. It grew into a full residential academy, introducing Madhyamik education in 1987 under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and Higher Secondary education in 2011, and also runs B.Ed. Special Education and ITI courses.
