Established in 1997 as a charitable trust and Section 25 company by the Advanced Transfusion Medicine Research Foundation, Prathama Blood Centre set out to modernise Indian blood banking at a time when unsafe replacement donation was the norm. India's pioneering NABH-accredited, ISO-certified centralised blood centre, it promotes 100% voluntary donation, prepares and distributes blood components at scale on a cost-recovery model, and has become one of the premier blood establishments in South Asia.
