LKSK has worked among Santhal and Pahariya tribal and Muslim minority communities in the north-eastern corner of Jharkhand since October 2000. From Devinagar in Pakur it now covers blocks across Pakur, Dumka, Godda, Jamtara and Sahebganj districts, running programmes on education, health and hygiene, water and sanitation, SRI paddy cultivation and income generation. Its work also confronts child labour, child marriage and trafficking in a region where most families depend on farming, stone quarries and beedi rolling.
