Established in 1985 by a handful of astronomy enthusiasts, Khagol Mandal is a volunteer-run public trust that has made Mumbai fall in love with the night sky — running overnight sky-observation camps outside the city, weekly meetings at Sion and Nashik, telescope-making workshops, astronomy courses in Marathi and English, eclipse expeditions and the Khagol Vishwa e-magazine, all while campaigning against superstition around celestial events.
