Kalyan Sangha began in 1927 as an ashram at the foot of Susunia Hill in Bankura, West Bengal, on land gifted by a local zamindar, and gradually turned an arid area with no school, doctor or shops into cultivable land with a village school. Its present projects include health check-ups, vocational training, farming, education and a science centre.
