AWSAR — the name means 'opportunity' in Hindi — was founded in 2001 by social entrepreneurs and University of Delhi students. It operates the CHILDLINE 1098 child helpline and runs programmes across eight areas including child protection, education and early childhood, health, women's empowerment, disaster relief and development research, reporting over 12,000 children supported in education and 9,000 women trained.
