Vinod Vyasulu is the founder of Centre for Budget and Policy Studies [1], an Indian non-profit working on education, human rights and healthcare from Bengaluru.

Vinod Vyasulu is an Indian economist and the founder and first director of the Centre for Budget and Policy Studies (CBPS), a research organisation in Bangalore that works on public finance, decentralisation, education, health, gender and governance.

Career

Vyasulu taught economics at universities for nearly two decades before founding CBPS. He has worked as a consulting economist for the International Labour Organization, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, several bilateral agencies, and public and private institutions in India. His research has covered decentralisation, industrial management and questions of public policy and public finance, and he has published in academic journals.

As founder-director of CBPS he was responsible for the organisation's operations and for the choice and execution of its research projects. He has written regularly for the Economic and Political Weekly on budgets, governance, cash transfers and health financing, including 'Brazil's Fome Zero Strategy: Can India Implement Cash Transfers?' (2010) and 'The Case against Health Insurance' (2008).[2][3]

The Centre for Budget and Policy Studies (CBPS) is a research institution established in Bengaluru in February 1998 as an independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit society registered under the Societies Registration Act. It conducts research and analysis on public budgets, education, health, governance and accountability, and livelihoods.
