Nasima Merchant is the founder of Nityaasha Foundation (2013)[1], an Indian non-profit working on healthcare and women & children from Pune.

Nasima Merchant is the founder and a trustee of the Nityaasha Foundation, a charitable trust registered in Pune in July 2013 that supports children from low-income families living with type 1 diabetes.

Nityaasha Foundation

Merchant established Nityaasha Foundation in 2013 with Farook Merchant, chairman and managing director of the Messung group of companies. The trust works with children and young people with type 1 diabetes from economically weaker sections of society, a condition that requires lifelong insulin and daily monitoring and which many families cannot afford to manage.

The foundation's work is organised around three activities: providing insulin, test strips, lancets, syringes and glucometers free of charge; monitoring registered children through clinic, home and school visits and regular follow-up calls; and educating children, parents and teachers so that the condition can be managed confidently at home and at school. It also offers dietary and social counselling.

The foundation reported supporting 130 children in 2022, a majority of them from rural areas, and 284 registered children by 2023.

Nityaasha Foundation

Nityaasha Foundation supports underprivileged children and young people living with Type 1 diabetes, for whom care means bearing a lifelong financial burden that many families cannot meet. Registered in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, and working with associated doctors including paediatric endocrinologists, it provides insulin and supplies, monitors each child's condition and educates families, selecting beneficiaries through a defined process.
