Mamoon Akhtar is the founder of Samaritan Help Mission (2001)[1], an Indian non-profit working on education, healthcare and livelihood from Howrah.

Samaritan Help Mission

Samaritan Help Mission is a voluntary not-for-profit organisation established in 2001 and working at the grassroots in Tikiapara, Howrah, under the motto 'we go by need not by creed'. It runs English-medium and Urdu-medium schools, an English Access micro-scholarship programme, the Rebecca Belilious charitable dispensary and a mobile clinic, a vocational training centre, and sports, food and financial support for the community, without discrimination of caste, creed or colour.

Samaritan Help Mission reports the following, on its own site:

  • 6,620 students across 8 schools
  • 34,526 patients served yearly
  • 38,114 OPD (outpatient) services provided yearly
  • 6 mobile clinics and 2 health centres
