K Nagarajan is the founder of Aishwarya Trust (2008)[1], an Indian non-profit working on healthcare and women & children from Chennai.

K. Nagarajan was an Indian finance executive and philanthropist who was the founder of the Aishwarya Trust, a Chennai charity that funds screening, diagnosis and surgery for children with congenital heart defects from low-income families.

Career

Nagarajan was born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, and retired as Director (Finance and Administration) of Plasser India after forty years with the company. He helped fund the education and health care of many children, and, a lifelong follower of Carnatic music, endowed scholarships and prizes for young musicians.

Aishwarya Trust

The Aishwarya Trust was founded in Chennai in March 2008 by his daughter Chitra Viswanathan, together with Nagarajan and the cardiac surgeon Dr K. R. Balakrishnan, in memory of Chitra's daughter Aishwarya, who died of a congenital heart defect. The trust describes Nagarajan as its founder and states that he established its financial systems.

The trust runs screening camps, arranges diagnosis and funds corrective surgery for children with congenital heart disease in private hospitals, followed by review and follow-up care, and conducts community outreach on early detection. The trust's website lists Nagarajan among its trustees as the late Mr K Nagarajan.[2][3][4]

Aishwarya Trust

Aishwarya Trust was founded in Chennai in March 2008 by Sriram Nagarajan and his father K Nagarajan after the loss of their daughter Aishwarya to a congenital heart defect. It runs screening camps, diagnosis, surgery funding and follow-up review for children with congenital heart disease from low-income families. The Trust works with partner hospitals in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu.
