Aruna Diwakar is the founder of Kritagyata Trust [1], an Indian non-profit working on orphans & child care and women & children from Bengaluru.

Aruna Diwakar is the founder and president of Kritagyata Trust, a Bangalore charity working on the education and welfare of children and women from low-income communities. The trust is based in Yelahanka in north Bangalore and was registered under the Indian Trusts Act in 2014-15.

The name kritagyata means gratitude in Sanskrit. Diwakar has written that starting the trust was 'my way of expressing gratitude towards the God who has given me a wonderful and a meaningful life'.

Career

Before founding Kritagyata she spent more than a decade working with a number of non-governmental organisations and on voluntary social projects. She has described deciding to set up her own organisation after concluding that the disparities she encountered were widening rather than closing.

Kritagyata began in 2015 by supporting the education of three children. It now runs a children's home in Yelahanka and a set of programmes covering school education, women's livelihoods and menstrual health awareness, and says it has reached more than 40,000 children and women. Its work has included adopting government schools in rural areas, supplying books, uniforms and computer laboratories, and building toilets and drinking water facilities in village schools.

The trust is registered under the Juvenile Justice Act, holds 12A and 80G income tax approvals and FCRA registration, and is listed on the NGO Darpan portal and registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for CSR activity.[2][3][4]

Kritagyata Trust

Kritagyata Trust runs MY HOME, a residential shelter for orphaned girls and girls with a single parent in Bengaluru, alongside education, community and environment programmes aimed at helping vulnerable children and women become independent.
