Bihar Voluntary Health Association was established in 1969 by Fr. James Stuart Tong with support from the Medical Mission Sisters of Kurji Holy Family Hospital, Patna, under the founding principle 'Health, a reality for all.' It is a state-wide network of member organisations that strengthens charitable hospitals and health centres, builds capacity among civil society groups, and runs programmes on early marriage prevention, sexual and reproductive health, and malnutrition among women and children. Its coverage spans all districts of Bihar and eight districts of neighbouring Jharkhand.
