Sadhana Murlidhar Amte is the founder of Anandwan (Maharogi Seva Samiti) (1949)[1], an Indian non-profit working on disability and healthcare from Warora.
Anandwan (Maharogi Seva Samiti)
Anandwan was founded in 1949 by Baba Amte near Warora in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, as a self-sufficient community rehabilitating leprosy-affected, disabled, and tribal people through livelihood training, small-scale industries and healthcare. It now runs hospitals, schools for blind and deaf students, a college and an orphanage under the Maharogi Seva Samiti trust, led today by Dr Vikas Amte.
Anandwan (Maharogi Seva Samiti) reports the following, on its own site:
- Over 2,000 differently-abled people live and work with dignity at Maharogi Sewa Samiti's Anandwan, earning their livelihoods through its programmes.
