Anand Service Society

Founded in 2000 by Gyanendra and Monica Purohit in memory of Gyanendra's deaf brother, Anand Service Society mainstreams deaf and speech-impaired people through education, sign-language interpretation, legal aid and employment support. It runs India's pioneering deaf helpline with Indore Police, a home for deaf orphan girls, and residential centres reaching tribal districts like Dhar and Alirajpur; its founders composed the national anthem in Indian Sign Language and were honoured on Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Anand Service Society reports the following, on its own site:

  • 10,000 persons benefited directly and indirectly
