Madhusudan Sai

He was born in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, to Padmavati and Maheswar, in a family with long associations with Sathya Sai Baba. He enrolled at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning in 1996 and took a BSc (Honours) in chemistry, receiving a gold medal in November 1999 for standing first in the university. He went on to complete a master's degree in chemistry at Prasanthi Nilayam and an MBA, also with a gold medal.

From around 2011 he began establishing institutions in education, healthcare and nutrition based at Sathya Sai Grama. These include the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam group of educational campuses and a university, and multi-speciality hospitals which have carried out tens of thousands of free paediatric cardiac operations. He also founded the Sai Global Federation of Foundations, an association of member organisations in a number of countries.

The Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust was set up in November 2015 to provide a free breakfast to children in government schools, on the argument that hunger in the morning keeps children out of school and depresses learning. The programme has since expanded to become one of the largest nutrition programmes of its kind.

The Annapoorna Trust received a Solidarity Award in a special edition of the United Nations SDG Action Campaign, and the Best School Health Programme of the Year award at the Indian CSR Awards in 2022. At the seventh CSR Summit and Awards in Mumbai in March 2023 the trust won in the NGO of the Year and Most Committed NGO categories, and Madhusudan Sai received the NGO Leadership Award.[2][3][4][5][6]
