Late Mr. Tukaram Sahadeo Bamankar is the founder of The Poona Blind Men's Association (1952)[1], an Indian non-profit working on healthcare and disability from Pune.

The Poona Blind Men's Association

The Poona Blind Men's Association (PBMA) was established in 1952 and is registered as a public trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act. It runs a network of eye-care institutions in Maharashtra, including H.V. Desai Eye Hospital and the Dharamsey Nensey Super Specialty Eye Care Centre in Pune, plus eye hospitals in Nandurbar and Jalgaon, offering cataract surgery and other treatment aimed at economically disadvantaged patients. The association also runs a technical training institute and a home for aged blind women in Pune. Its website shows continued expansion, including a hospital opened in Solapur in 2025.
