Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline (HWOH) is a society registered with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir (12AA, 80G and FCRA registered), founded in 2003 by Javed Ahmad Tak — a paraplegic since 1999 — and based in Bijbehara, working across Anantnag district. It focuses on the holistic development of children and adults with disabilities including autism, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy, running school-based and home-based rehabilitation, providing scholarships and assistive devices, and operating CHILDLINE Anantnag (the 1098 child-helpline service) along with Child Friendly Spaces. It is also constructing a dedicated Rehabilitation & Resource Centre for children with disabilities in Pahlipora, Semthan.
Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline (HWOH) reports the following, on its own site:
- Humanity Welfare Organisation Helpline directly supported 2,000 families with verified food distribution ahead of Ramadan during April 2024 to March 2025 in Bijbehara, Jammu and Kashmir.
- Over 5,000 people were fed across multiple days of Ramadan through Humanity Welfare Organisation Helpline's community meal programme in 2024-25.
- Around 250 children with different types of disabilities took part in inclusive sports activities organised by Humanity Welfare Organisation Helpline in Bijbehara during 2024-25, in collaboration with Government Degree College Bijbehara and the Zonal Education Office.
